Just returned from retirement trip through France and then on to Tuscany for nearly a month after a couple of weekends to acclimatise ourselves to the rig in this country. We towed our Xplore 304 using a V50S Volvo (2.0 litre) and had no problems despite high temperatures and occassional torrential rain. We even had hail the first night out! The rig was very comfortable and warm/cool when necessary. We have owned vans before and toured mostly in France but this was excellent in all areas. A dream to tow! We did the Mont Blanc tunnel with ease. Lots of positive comments from fellow caravaners - mostly Dutch and German. On our last three sites we were the only GB plate on the block.(Macon, Lake Orta and Ciccena) Excellent spec all round, well done Elddis!

Let's not pretend. The Xplore 304 is not a new caravan. It's been around in various forms for around 5 years and it remains a compelling contender for 2017. For couples wanting something small but affordable to take on their caravanning adventures, the 304 is without peer. The Xplore 304 remains a remarkable piece of packaging, squeezing four berths and decent kit levels into its tiny dimensions.

OK. So this is our first caravan, so I don't have anything to compare it with. We were so excited to take ownership that we went away immediately. It was the last weekend in February and temperatures were 3 degrees during the day and slightly below zero at night. The heating kept us toasty warm inside. We have two small children (3 and 5). They loved the bunk beds, the shower, the sound system. We have snuggly story time in the big bay window, we used the microwave, I made coffee. The bounders had an amazing time at the campsite, riding their bikes and even making a new friend. Sure, there was some cabin fever occasionally, and we haven't bought an awning yet. But in hindsight, an absolutely incredible family weekend. Better than we could have hoped for - everything on the caravan worked a dream. When the boys get bigger, we may have to upgrade, but I think this is at least 5 years away. Although, at that stage, perhaps we can put them outside in the awning or a tent... At present, I am super chuffed with our amazing van.
