We purchased our 2010 Avante 624 new this year in March 2011, last one of 2010 stock at our local dealer in Elgin.
We like the large rear wash room with plenty of storage space in there and nice shower with space to move in.
The fixed bed is comfortable to sleep on ,easy to lift, has access to the storage area and enough over head lockers, side lockers under the deep side window (nice use of space) and large wardrobe for clothes.
The kitchen area is fine again with enough storage for food and general items. Like the microwave oven (never had them in our other caravans) and the fridge is a nice size.
The lounge area is fine for us being comfortable and airy thanks to the roof lights, and plenty of storage.
We have used the caravan a lot this summer including a 4 week tour of Ireland with no problems. The caravan behaved well on some pretty awful roads.
The only fault we had with the caravan was a small water leak through the side locker door under the bed. This was fixed by our dealer in a couple of days.
The only thing i find a bit of a pain is the front locker could do with opening a bit higher to make access easier.
Overall we have been very impressed with our caravan. This is the first Elddis caravan we have owned, and our first twin axle. -

We purchased our Avante 624 - 2008 model in March 2010 as we were fed up with making up the bed in our previous caravan.
The caravan was much larger than our previous caravan and we were happy with our purchase. It is well equipped with a good size bed on the awning side, a full fridge, cooker, microwave and a 3 gas burner hob, if I had a choice then one of the burners would have been an electric ring. The bathroom is spacious with additional cupboard space whithin the lower part of the bathroom area for all of the overspills for the cleaning materials which is needed as the overhead cupboard space isn't very deep.
We have spent many weekends and a number of holidays in our caravan and it is more than big enough for two.
Don't get me wrong we have had a number of issues with the caravan especially with the bed, we thought the mattress was worn and needed to be replaced but it was the bed slats underneath, so beware, they had warped and were bending towards the floor and not upwards, I wasn't able to get this done under the warranty, so had to sort it out with plywood cut down to size which has now made the bed too heavy to lift by myself.
We now have an additional problem in which all of the edging strips both horizontal & vertical have shrunk; I have managed to get some of them replaced and am awaiting further works to be completed. This is covered by the warrenty.
None of the above works have stopped us from having some lovely holidays and we regularly have visitors to stay over as the caravan will accommodate 4 adults. -

We went to view the 2011 Avante 624 with a definate view to buying. Dealer only had a 540 on display but on looking round the van we were certain the 624 would be the van for us. Loved the fabric, internal wood, bathroom and most especially the price for a brand new twin axle - everything until we discovered that the extra room on the twin axle 624 (as opposed to the 540) was in the bathroom!!!! This means short 5'4 seats at the front of the twin axle. Totally unpractical for us (a family of 3 with a tall 12 year old) because it means making up the front double every night and no seperate bed for a "visitor" to sleep.
We would much rather have had long seats at the front to enable us to relax during the day or to have somewhere for visitors to sit. The bathroom as it is in the 540 is more than adequate and really can't see why anyone would pay the difference in price for a twin axle to have a bit of extra storage in the bathroom!
A very very disappointed family who wanted to upgrade from their perfect 2001 Avante 524 to a twin axle with fixed bed!
Reply from Elddis - Hello Wils, thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback on your recent dealer visit. We're sorry that you didn't see a layout that reflects your family's needs. As a fixed bed is your priority, you may wish to consider the improved layout Elddis Odyssey 634. This is a slightly longer and wider caravan than the Avante 624, with a front dinette converting to 6'9'' x 6'0'' double (or six foot singles) and a 6'0'' x 4'2'' fixed double bed with memory foam mattress at the rear. The bathroom, whilst sizeable, is luxurious and a has a double shower cubicle. This model is 75kgs heavier than the Avante 624 and £1900 more expensive (based on RRP), but boasts a more detailed specification, including: shock absorbers as standard, drinks cabinet and dedicated TV storage unit, dual fuel gas hob and electric hotplate, awning warmer, external gas BBQ point, Pioneer sound system and much more. As with the Avante, there are two alternative upholstery choices, plus a leather option. Full details and pictures can be found here on our website. -

After lots of searching we opted for the Elddis Avante 624. We love the layout and the amount of room in the van and in the washroom. We've used it every weekend since collecting it in March, but we have a problem with the washroom light and the main door flyscreen. It's taking ages to get repacement parts, which I thought would be readily available - as it didnt take this long to actually build the caravan. Although I am dissapointed with the aftersales service, I still think this caravan is near to perfect for a 4 berth. Reply from Elddis - Thank you, Dougie for your feedback. We are concerned to hear of your problems getting replacement parts, as it is our policy to supply standard parts within 14 days. Please could you call Karen in our Customer and Retailer Care Department (01207 699 000) so she can find out how this has arisen and organise the parts and repair. Many thanks.

In July 2009 we purchased the Wandahome special edition of the Avante 624, which is badged Compass Rambler 20/4 and has an improved spec over the standard version. It is easy to live with, spacious and comfortable for the two of us but also OK for four when the family use it.
We have so far used it for around 30 days/nights.
It is well equipped with Microwave, large fridge etc. We would have preferred a 3 gas/1 elecric hob, as on our previous Abbey, rather than just the 3 gas hob on this caravan.
We had the usual few minor niggles on delivery and at present have a creaking noise from where furniture joins floor near to the fridge area and an intermittent vibration from blower fan, there is also a little rucking of the fabric on one of the front seats.
I have the caravan booked into Wandahome (who give an excellent service) this week for the warranty work to be done so should soon be 100% happy again.
Overall we are very pleased with the van and its layout.
