Well, having previously owned an 1994 Elddis Crusader Storm we were a little worried about the lack of space with a fixed bed but after using the Avante 540 now twice with another long weekend coming up we have to say we're very impressed. Quality was a major factor when we were looking around, as some other makes seemed a little less well put together and with cheaper looking fittings. I was also a little dubious about going back to a single axle after owning a twin, but again I must say it tows very well considering it is only a few inches shorter than ours previous twin axle. Overall we are very happy with the van so far and very happy with our dealers at Vantage caravans in Tattershall who have responded to any little teething problems immediately and without complaint. We bought a new 2010 Avante 540 thinking it was a good layout with end wash room, fixed bed and double or two singles at the front. We overlooked the kitchen area which was a big mistake as the hob and sink are very close together and when trying to do any cooking there is very little work space to put pot and pans etc.
We used the caravan for one weekend only and ttraded it in for a twin wheel caravan. It was a big disappointment as this was are first new caravan, my wife did not give up lightly trying to get the kitchen layout to work . It is our view that this kitchen layout needs to be looked at, maybe a round bowl and removable drainer may help to make more room to the worktop. Paul and Julie Baker.

This caravan configuration is the best-selling for all 5 main UK caravan manufacturers since its launch around 2 years ago. Elddis' best selling caravan is in fact the Avante 540, but the layout has been so successful, for the 2011 season we now offer it in every Elddis range and now Buccaneer, too. We also make this layout on a twin-axle platform, i.e. Avante 624, Odyssey 634 and Crusader Supersirocco - again, some of our best-seeling models. 2011 season sees some exciting new changes to the full Elddis range, based on Customer feedback. Avante in particular has been redesigned from top to bottom for the September launch of its 10th anniversary edition. The 2011 kitchens - including Avante - feature a new round stainless steel sink with removable drainer, 4-burner hob with smoked glass cover/additional worktop, 50% deeper lockers and up to 6 electric sockets throughout the caravan.
