We collected our van in April 2011 and have had 5 trips away in it so far. We cannot fault it; it looks smart, sleeping and seating are very comfortable, light and airy interior, very well made, it is easy to tow and affordable. Very efficient heater and hot water supplies. Noted other users comments on plug sockets; the dealer installed another in the rear lounge for £50, money well spent. We looked at other manufacturers but nothing on the market comes close to it.

Hello again
We have just returned from a fabulous week in North Devon and have finally managed to try out the two remaining items as yet untested.
We used the on board digital aerial whilst away and can report it performed exceedingly well. The picture quality was excellent and all channels available including the radio ones.
We also tried out the caravan's shower and found it was not wanting for heat or indeed abundance of water.
Again the Xplore 495 justified its purchase and is indeed a great family caravan.
Best wishes, the Richardson Family -

Our Xplore 495 is our first caravan, we enjoyed years in a tent but decided it was time for a caravan. I love it. It suits our family perfectly we have two young girls and the only problem we had was the argument between them about who should use the bunk first. I can't find any fault with it. Plenty of room, lovely fittings and so warm and cosy at night even in winter.

Hello again
An update on our latest holiday in our new Xplore 495.
We have just returned from a late holiday, the last in the year usually for us and had to use the Truma space heater and blown air system for the first time.
Well, we could not believe how efficient it was. Having never used it before we had the temperature set up high and within 15 minutes we were melting! I adjusted the settings and soon got things under control.
For the whole weekend we were as warm as toast and didn't seem to use much gas in the process. We are now seriously considering winter holidays, as the heating was beyond our expectations.
Well done to all at Elddis for such an excellent choice in heating for their caravan range.
May we wish all at Elddis a very Happy Christmas and a very Prosperous New Year.

We bought the 2010 Elddis Xplore 495 from our local Elddis dealer, Wallace Caravans in Kirkcaldy - who were absolutely brilliant. Their care and services are exceptional and I would recommend them. It is a nice layout and we had another socket fitted in the rear bench due to lack of sockets (Note from Elddis - the 2011 range now comes with more sockets as standard, further to Customer feedback). We also has a radio fitted which works excellently - Wallace even fitted speakers which look like factory fitted ones! We would recommend this model to any one.

Good morning
We have just returned from the Caravan and Motor Home Show at the NEC and have looked at the Elddis 2011 range of caravans.
All the models have undergone a lot of changes to much enhance the ranges to the advantage of the customer. We were impressed at the thought and planning that has gone into the improvements.
We only have one worry. Both Swift and Bailey Caravans have near vertical front elevations. We hope Elddis do not follow suit in the future, we like the sloping front to all your ranges.
Again, great work from the design team.
Kind regards

Hi again, I was perhaps a bit harsh with my previous review. We are
off to Brittany in France next week and I can`t wait. We collect our new car on Tuesday and leave on Friday. The 495 can`t be that bad - we still have it and we use it as much as possible!! -

I have just been reading the latest review and felt compelled to respond. Yes, the Xplore is an 'entry level' caravan but it is well built, very light and comfortable and despite the small number of sockets does all that is asked of it and more.
We have used the static ariel on sites and have had no problems. Plus it is digital and hence no need to change in the future.
I have also recommended the Xplore range to friends who were imprssed with the quality versus cost of this range.
Keep up the good work!
Regards

Have now owned our Xplore 495 for twelve months, there are things lacking , not enough sockets, poor carpet runner, not enough subtle lighting, poor shelving in fridge and a static ariel that`s useless. We have also had to buy a spare wheel and we have also upgraded the hitch to a stabiliser hitch which I consider should be a standard fixture. On the positive side it tows very well and is just the right size for the three of us; it is comfortable and we have had many trips in it so far, average value for money, but we won`t buy another , which is a shame. Note from Elddis: Thank you for your feedback, Paul. We're sorry to hear that the Xplore 495 is not the right caravan for you and your family. The Xplore range is our entry-level caravan range and as such does not have the same level of specification as you would find in Avante, Odyssey and Crusader. We feel the multi-award winning Xplore is competitively priced and equipped.

Hi again
Just an update on the Xplore 495.
We went to Devon on 21st May to collect it from the dealer from whom we purchased it from - Stowford Fam Meadows.
The site had pitched the van and power was also in place. We put the water butt in place and enjoyed our weekend in the new van.
Previously we had not noticed the lounge roof light and the spot lights to either side of the van at the front. What a bonus the roof light was considering the hot weather we enjoyed!
The return trip to the Midlands and home was a delight, as the van was the steadiest thing I have towed in many years. Well done Elddis, a cracking van for the price and lived up to all we hoped it would at the NEC in February.
Many, many thanks indeed.

Having used the Elddis Xplore 495 now quite a few times, we love it. Apart from the sockets mentioned in my earlier review, the caravan meets all our needs. We have recently been Rallying with the Elddis Owners Club, and they are all brill too - we would recommend people to join in the fun.

Our first caravan for me and my wife - both in our twenties, with one 10 month old baby, and what a gem! Brilliant to tow, solid quality, light and modern interior. Dealer (North East Caravans) and Elddis have been brilliant.
We've used the caravan at zero degrees, and it was lovely and warm. Everything worked well (oven, fridge, sinks, shower, beds etc.) and worked better than we ever would have thought it would in a caravan, it's like our home from home.
A fault in one of the curtains was rectified very quickly by Elddis via the dealer. -

Hello
We purchased an Eldiss Xplore 495 at the Caravan and Boat Show at the NEC in February 2010. We were so impressed with the layout of this caravan that we fell in love with it at first sight.
We used to own an Abbey Spectrum 520 and the layout of your 495 is virtually identical to that of that of the Abbey except for its length. We are eagerlly looking forward to its delivery so we can collect it and start using it for the new season.
Yours faithfully, Paul and Fiona Richardson

Very nice, plenty of room, bed very comfy. The only down side is that there are not enough electric sockets.
(Note from Elddis: In the 2010 Season Range Elddis introduced more sockets as standard, including double sockets in our kitchens. This improvement has so far been implemented on Avante, Odyssey and Crusader models - but not on our entry-level priced Xplore range. Thanks for your feedback, Sarah - we'll take your suggestions on-board).
