2010 Elddis Xplore 452

Update: Well after getting the lights fixed (awning rail screw touching wire) we have had a good summer's caravaning which we can say the 452 has been extremely comfortable and the washroom is it best asset. No longer have to worry about finding sites with facilities we have home from home in the 'van. One niggle is the rear light clusters on which the brake/tail light bulb keeps losing contact due to the plastic clip in holder coming loose. I notice on the 2012 models the lights have been revamped I wonder if this includes the fitting inside? About 50% of the times I hook up I have to remove and refit.
All in all I am now hooked on this caravaning lark and no doubt will be looking in the future for a new one someday and looking at the Cottingham show last week I guess Elddis would have my vote against the rest especially at the entry level of the market.

We collected our Elddis Xplore 452 in January 2011 - it being an ex-demo from the forecourt. We first used it beginning of March and in most aspects are extremely pleased with it - especially the shower room which was one of the main attractions. Heating is good, but we found on colder days it needs to be boosted using gas to get the 'van warm initially. Few points we have been dissappointed with are mainly build faults, one of which we are yet to solve. It took me several trips to realise that the Status ariel must have a fault as it never seemed to have a signal. On reading through the instructions I found the cable was plugged into the incorrect socket so there was no connection to the aerial!! Secondly the co-axial conection to the front socket below the drawer unit was faulty. On correction we had a fantastic signal on the last two locations! Jockey Wheel has dropped twice once quite scarily on the Mway at 60mph. Now never travel without a bungee fitted for peace of mind!
Now the fault we cannot trace - road lighting. When connected to the car via a new towbar 13 pin all the lighting works until the towball and coupling are connected at which point the left hand side on the caravan all goes out and I have noticed that there is sparking if the ball and coupling are brought together slowly or if the breakaway cable is touched against the car towbar. I have had the towbar wiring checked and rewired using dedicated system (despite my Vauxhall dealer insisting first time it was not required). I am now in the hands of the caravan dealer who is to call me back on Monday. I will update later, but if anyone at Elddis or anyone reading this has any ideas I would appreciate your help. Reply fro Elddis: Dear Barry, thank you for your feedback and we are sorry to hear of the concerns raised. Although we understand that these are being dealt with by your supplying dealer, we have also relayed the information to our Elddis Customer Care department and hope to resolve any issues without further delay.
