Elddis touring caravans face the ultimate endurance test

In line with our commitment to continuous product development, Elddis has just completed our most in-depth testing yet, using the world-renowned Iveco test track in southern Germany, usually used to test the heaviest of trucks and HGVs.

The Elddis track testing simulated 5 years of average usage, over 100 laps at up to 60mph, on a variety of treacherous conditions, including: Belgian pave; potholed roads; washboard roads and corrugated surfaces - all with a fully-laden caravan.

The result:

  • No damage to the caravan's interior or exterior structure
  • No damage to the interior cabinetry
  • No damage to appliances, which were given a functional test after the track testing
  • No damage to Elddis' unique BPW chassis and running gear

Elddis is the only UK manufacturer to use BPW's chassis and running gear and has long asserted its superior precision engineering, with class-leading stability and manoeuverability. This latest testing in Germany affirms the opinion held by so many loyal Elddis owners that Elddis products not only look stylish and well-crafted, but are also robustly built and designed to stand the test of time.

David Whitehead, Elddis Homologation Manager was in Germany to verify the test and conditions, as were Elddis' chassis suppliers, BPW Fahrzeugtechnik, who reported back that this was 'the strongest touring caravan tested' in their many years' experience.

The Elddis endurance tests were filmed and can be seen here along with further information and demonstrations of the benefits of BPW components used uniquely in the Elddis and Buccaneer touring caravan ranges.
