All new Elddis Affinity wins Practical Caravan 2013 ‘Tourer of the Year’ Award

The all-new Elddis Affinity 540 was today announced the clear winner of the coveted Practical Caravan 2013 Tourer of the Year awards.

In this year’s annual and eagerly anticipated awards – sponsored by Whale - Practical Caravan scrutinised all new and substantially revised products for the 2013 Season, and found the competition to be fierce. The winners, and those highly commended represent ‘the very best in their field’ according to Practical Caravan’s expert judging team.

The overall winner, claiming the title of Tourer of the Year, is the Elddis Affinity 540 – one of five brand new lightweight single-axle models in the newly-launched range.

Like all Elddis caravans and motorhomes, the Affinity range is built using Elddis’s revolutionary new SoLiD Construction system – new for the 2013 Season – which is one of the most talked about innovations in the caravan world.

Practical Caravan says that whilst their ‘attention was caught by the innovative technology behind the new Elddis line up, the details of the Affinity 540 won (them) over completely.”

This fixed-bed, end-washroom model ‘combines one of the industry’s best selling layouts into a hugely attractive, yet towable package’. Whilst wowed by SoLiD Construction, Practical Caravan understands that innovation alone will not sell a caravan and told us: “We cannot remember a van from Elddis in recent years that combined high specification, desirability and the latest technology into such a compelling proposition.”

This is a sentiment which is reflected in the surge in demand for 2013 Season Elddis touring caravans and in particular the exciting new Affinity line-up.

The Affinity won over Practical Caravan with its appealing design and attention to detail. The interior they judged ‘hugely appealing’ and the internal kit ‘very impressive.’ The Affinity range comes with 3kW Alde heating, BPW iDC (Intelligent Drive Control) and a host of innovative and class-leading specification. Practical Caravan explain: “All of this is very nice, but the thing about the Affinity 540 that genuinely won us over was how the ambitious details set out in the brochure translate into a hugely impressive caravan on the forecourt.
