Sony Spectacular
Elddis in partnership with Base Systems took a 2006 Elddis Crusader Aurora and installed the very latest Sony equipment to showcase the future of leisure vehicle audio/vision…today.
The vehicle was unveiled at the recent NEC show as a concept vehicle to show what could be achieved within a leisure vehicle.
Although the vehicle itself is not available to the public with all of the Sony equipment fitted, it received a great deal of attention from show visitors interested in the latest leisure vehicle AV systems.
Visitors were asked to complete a questionnaire to assist Elddis with their product development research. All completed questionnaires were entered into a prize draw to win a Sony MEX-R1 combined DVD, CD and MP3 player. This superb prize supplied courtesy of Base Systems, was won by Andrew Hinton from Bridgnorth in Shropshire.
So what did the vehicle have in it to cause such interest?
The living area had a specially modified storage compartment that unveiled a 19-inch wide screen Sony Bravia LCD on which you can play the latest movies and music releases on the DVD/CD/MP3 player, or become the ultimate gamer on the specially housed Playstation 2.
The sound was supplied through four Brookland limited edition speakers and a compact Subwoofer, with built in amplifier for easy bass increase. There was also an iPod/MP3 connection so you can enjoy all of your favourite songs through this impressive sound system.
Moving on to the kitchen visitors found a wireless demountable 6.5-inch LCD screen that received a signal from the DVD player in the living area. This means that films can be viewed when preparing food in the kitchen or even taken outside of the caravan to the awning.
The technology continued into the rear bedroom with a wall mounted 23-inch wide screen Sony Bravia LCD TV with two Brookland limited edition speakers. If that wasn't enough it also came with another fully integrated DVD, CD and MP3 player. All of which were remote control, of course.
The enjoyment was not restricted to the lounge, kitchen and bedroom as waterproof dual cone marine speakers and wall mounted remote control were situated in the washroom and shower cubicle. We've even supplied 2 mounted to the outside of the caravan (ideal for use in an awning). Rainy days and singing in the shower will never seem the same again, but spare a thought for the neighbours…!!!
