Lowdhams 'Long Way Round' charity appeal
Elddis retailer Lowdhams is to undertake a cycle challenge between Lowdhams Gunthorpe in Nottingham and Lowdhams Huddersfield in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. On Sunday 8th Aug each team will leave their dealership at the same time and meet up at Buxton for an overnight stop, before continuing on to their destination on Monday 9th August.
The event covers a distance of approx 120 miles between depots, following a challenging route through the Peak District. Who will complete the challenge first?… The teams are as follows:-
Gunthorpe: Claire Wong, Steve Sharpe, Charlie Sharpe, plus Mark Mellors as support driver.
Huddersfield: Michael Smith, Ben Parkin, Dave Bradford, plus Roger Hardy as support driver.
Chris Gage, who came up with this mad idea was due to ride but has a serious back injury and will not now be able to take part. We wish him well in his recovery. None of the riders are serious cyclists, so this is a massive challenge … but one they are determined to conquer.
Mark Mellors, Operations Manager at Lowdhams' Nottingham branch tells us: "I know from first hand experience that Macmillan Cancer Support is very important to cancer sufferers and can not do what they do with out the support of donators, so dig deep & help us in our quest!” Elddis customers and friends wishing to support the Lowdhams team can donate via www.justgiving.com/lowdhams Many thanks for your support!
