Our competition winners report back on their Crusader Tempest holiday

Meet the Blockley Family - winners of a very special Half Term holiday…'Elddis style'!

In the first competition of its kind, Elddis joined forces with The Camping and Caravanning Club to create a unique holiday experience for one lucky family.

Mum Tanya, Dad David, Kate (age 12) and Luke (age 9) chose the all-new and exclusive Crusader Tempest from the 2010 Elddis touring caravan range, which was then sited for the family at The Camping and Caravanning Club's family-friendly Kingsbury Waterpark location.

The Tempest arrived for the Blockleys fully loaded with treats from Elddis and the team from The Camping and Caravanning Club went to meet the family armed with goodie bags and a year's free Club membership.

Mark Tricker, Director of Derby Caravan Centre - the Elddis Premier Retailer where the Blockleys service their current Elddis caravan - was at Kingsbury Waterpark to welcome the family and show them around the Tempest, demonstrating the latest technology in readiness for the week ahead.

The Crusader Tempest proved an immediate hit with all the family. Tanya told us: "The Tempest has a spacious feel to it and we did not feel on top of each other. There was plenty of storage for all of us”. The Camping and Caravanning Club arranged for Tanya's parents to stay on the adjacent pitch, which worked out well. Tanya says: "The Tempest's layout meant we could entertain guests easily.”

Katie loved the extra wide bed (which converts from the 4-seater side-dinette) and declared it incredibly comfy. The children used the side-dinette a great deal and claimed it for their own! Tanya stocked up the huge fridge-freezer from the hampers of treats, and found the kitchen and equipment 'pure luxury'. She tells us: "The children were impressed with all the treats and sampled some foods they hadn't tried before. Katie likened it to the 'bush tucker' trial in the jungle!”

The Blockleys enjoyed a memorable experience and enjoyable break at Kingsbury Waterpark, which is an ideal base for attractions such as Broomey Croft Children's Farm, Drayton Manor theme park and Tamworth Snowdome. Tanya says: "We were lucky with fine warm dry weather and spent quality family time together. We did lots of walking, exploring the countryside and cycling. Our parents and friends came along for a couple of days and it was good to relax together.

"My favourite day was Sunday when we all strolled round the Waterpark then headed down the canal to the Dog and Doublet for a superb Sunday lunch.”

The children went home with their Grandparents on Thursday, leaving Tanya and David alone for some much appreciated adult time! Although Kate and Luke will be delighted to hear that Mum and Dad managed to fit in some Christmas shopping at the nearby Ventura Park!

Having spent such an enjoyable week in the top-of-the-range Crusader Tempest, Tanya and David have started a 'new caravan savings fund' and plan to redecorate their lounge in the New Year … in the Crusader's purple and silver!

Rachel Moncrieff, Marketing and Communications Manager at Elddis is delighted that the Blockleys had such a good time and that the Tempest got the thumbs-up from all the family. "Tanya texted me to let me know what a great holiday they were all having. Everything was perfect - even the unseasonably good weather!”
