Elddis launches new rating system
One of the UK’s leading leisure vehicle manufacturers has gone one step further in ensuring its purchasing process is supporting its business by introducing an innovative ‘Vendor Rating System’.
Elddis, based in Consett, launched the ‘Vendor Rating System’ as a continuous improvement tool designed to measure, evaluate and improve supplier performance, enabling the company to make informed future supply chain decisions.
It allows Elddis to benchmark their supplier's performance against the performance of similar suppliers serving the company.
The real-time rating system can also be used to provide important feedback to suppliers in order to identify action plans and improvement opportunities for both parties.
As Carl Peacock, Elddis’s purchasing manager said: “Elddis acknowledged this system would provide the company with a competitive edge.
“The system has been designed to meet the specific objectives and priorities of the business with suppliers being evaluated on delivery and logistics performance.
“Ultimately this system increases efficiency and perfomance through our complete supply chain, which will have positive benefits for the customer and the business. So far the trials have been very successful, with suppliers positively responding to its introduction.”
Nick Algar from ESP Plastics said: “Elddis’s Vendor rating system is a useful tool for suppliers as it enables us to confirm our internal measurements and verify we are achieving what we need to. It's useful as well for discussions at Contract Review stage to indicate performance and areas of development."
Elddis introduced the rating system as part of a National supply chain initiative through DTI support.
