Second Stage Investment bolsters security and quality for Elddis

A leading leisure vehicle manufacturer tops up the £500,000 already invested in the past 12 months by another £120,000 into its factory.

Elddis Limited, which make over 5400 caravans and motorhomes each year, invested the money into the roof and laser framing sections of its production line.

A series of lifts and manipulators have been introduced to guarantee the highest safety levels for staff who previously lifted manually the vehicles frames. These improvements result in health and safety benefits, as well as an improvement to quality.

Ross Gray, Process Manager at Elddis said: “We take the safety of our team very seriously. While we endeavour to improve the vehicles we produce we are aware of the importance of investing time and money ensuring our staff are equipped with the tools to do this.”

Additionally, a new laser framing unit has been installed into the factory, and ensure high precision cutting of the frames’ apertures to be cut to specification.

What’s more, the results so far have included greater production efficiency and accuracy, reduction in damage to materials and therefore waste.

Ross continued: “The improvement to the production has been immediate. To implement changes while continuing production and achieving higher levels of operational performance, is a testament to our experienced and committed workforce.”

Steve Ford, Managing Director at Elddis believes its continued improvement and investment in technology differentiate them from other manufacturers in this field: “We are already reaping the benefits of the investments we have made.

“Processes have been streamlined, procedures have been strengthened and staff are equipped with the best tools possible. We have a responsibility to our industry to lead the way forward in world class manufacturing. Within the past year we have made significant in-roads in achieving this.”
