Recycling & Environmental Operative (Temp)

 

Main Purpose of the job

Recycling, Environmental and Grounds Maintenance

Responsibilities:

Health & Safety

Bale cardboard and plastic for recycling

Source and segregate more plastic items for recycling

Collection of recyclable items from all areas of the site

Cut cardboard cores ready for recycling

Arrange collection of baled cardboard & plastic

Strip Peugeot bumpers for recycling/rework

Manage recycling and storage areas

Ensure 5S principals are rolled out in all areas you are responsible for

Ensure hazardous waste is labelled and stored correctly

Decant waste cleaning cloths from hazardous drums into boxes for collection

Manage WEEE waste storage and collection

Crush all tins and cans as appropriate

Ensure hazardous waste is disposed of correctly

Maintain the site cleanliness as appropriate internal and external

Fence repairs and painting

Litter picking & clean the stairs

Clean and scrub internal red lanes

Snow clearing duties

Stack and control pallet area

Gardening

Ensure when removing waste from areas of the business all debris in and around the skip is swept and removed leaving the area clean and tidy.

Ensure that all waste paperwork is handed in after each collection to the Main Gatehouse.

Any additional duties

Qualifications:           

BIT Level II

Counter balance fork lift truck license desirable

5S trained and qualified (internally)

Environmental awareness

Knowledge and Experience:

Knowledge of compactor & baling equipment would be useful

Knowledge of waste streams and site logistics

would be an advantage

Gardening and landscaping

Normal Hours of work: 

Monday to Thursday 8.00am to 5.00pm. Friday 8.00am to 1.00pm. 39 Hours per week.

The post holder would be required to work the hours necessary to fulfil the requirements of the role.
